We carry a large variety of other yarns as well as fine quality domestic and exotic fibers for your spinning and knitting pleasure. We strive to provide something to make that special project perfect. My name is Gail and I am an RN. My husband and soul mate Tim and I moved here five years ago to offer spinning supplies. He was born and went to school, undergrad and graduate studies, in Oklahoma, and I originated and grew up in New England. We spent many years in Florida before moving to North Carolina.
Hippie-Chix Fiber Art is located in scenic Cullowhee, North Carolina, deep in the Western range of the Great Smokey Mountain National Forest. Our studio overlooks the beautiful Tuckaseegee River which surrounds our Llama and Mini-Horse Farm. Every spring we shear our own animals, and that is no easy job! We had two baby cria born this year as well as a mini, a real mini horse. It is a true blessing to be able to create beautiful fiber, yarn, merino roving and other spinning fiber and items for you to enjoy in this serene setting.
Our company is fairly new to the public but I have always loved beautiful fiber and bought it from local farmers and spinners for many years. I have seen the value of "home grown" and commercial blends as well. All of the spinning wheels for sale and 100% wool fibers we carry needle felt easily and are of the highest quality available. Beginners will find that most of our fibers are very easy to work with. Advanced spinners, knitters, felters and crafters can't get enough! We are retailers for Louet of North America, Ashford Handicrafts Company of New Zealand, and Strauch Fiber Equipment. Anything from these fine companies is available to you, just call for current stock. I feel everyone should do what they love to do as a hobby or a business, and here we are!
